Hanging Stones II By Terri Scheid
Terri Scheid's works are formed by pinch, coil, and slab construction. Layered underglazes are accented, complicated, and expanded by sgraffito into the clay. Once fired, the pieces are wet sanded to reveal the multiple layers of color, then sometimes drawn onto, and then fired again with clear glaze. Her work is primordial, vibrant, and ocassionally gravity-defying.
This hanging sculpture of displays red earthenware "stones" with layered underglazes, underglaze pencil, and clear glaze hanging on a Kevlar cord. Not including the lenghth of the chord, the ceramic pieces measure 5" in length, 4.5" in width, and 14"in height.
