Susan Williams studied ceramics for many years, then in 2015 she discovered metal clay and was inspired to make it into jewelry and explore all the medium's possibilities. Much like a ceramic artist, Susan shapes the clay into jewelry forms, lets them dry and harden, then fires them in a kiln where the binding material burns off leaving solid metal behind.
She often mixes steel, bronze, and copper clays in one piece to create a mix of colors and textures. These two-tone hexagonal earrings measure about 1.25" long and hang on surgical steel hooks.
